Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used — page views, which tools are popular, general traffic patterns. This is cookie-based and only runs after you accept it in the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookie is set and no data is sent to Google Analytics.

How the scanning tools process your data

Most tools on this site (security headers, SSL certificates, DNS records, and similar checks) work by having our server make a request to the domain or URL you submit, so it can inspect the response. Specifically:

  • The domain or URL you submit is sent to our backend to perform the requested check.
  • Some checks (DNS, DNSSEC, WHOIS, email authentication) are answered by querying public DNS resolvers and WHOIS/registry servers to reach their result — for these, the domain you submit is sent to those providers (for DNSSEC, Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver; for WHOIS, the relevant domain registry or registrar).
  • The result is cached in memory for up to 10 minutes to avoid repeatedly scanning the same target, and expires automatically after that — it is never served again once expired.
  • Requests are rate-limited per IP address to prevent abuse.
  • Nothing is written to a database. We do not keep a history of what you've scanned.
  • Some tools (password strength, hash generator, JWT decoder) run entirely in your browser and never send anything to our server at all.

Beyond the technical lookups described above, we do not sell or share this data with anyone.

Your cookie consent choice (accept/decline analytics) is stored in your browser's local storage so we can remember it — this is required for the site to function correctly and isn't itself an analytics or tracking mechanism.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Since we don't maintain accounts or a database of scan history, in practice this mainly concerns analytics data — contact us at maximedre@gmail.com for any request.
